US records first death from coronavirus in Washington state

A patient infected with the coronavirus disease in Washington state has died, health officials said Saturday, marking the first death due to the virus in the United States.

Officials also said that the person was not known to have traveled recently, which suggests they may have contracted the infection in the U.S.

Lagos commissioner of health, Akin Abayomi, says the Italian who tested positive to coronavirus, has been moved to a renovated facility.

The patient quarantined at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos, had reportedly complained of excessive heat and mosquitoes and had attempted to escape from the facility on Friday.

Italian coronavirus patient in Lagos 'attempt to escape’ quarantine facility

The Italian coronavirus patient quarantined at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos, attempted to escape from the facility on Friday, according to PUNCH.

The patient was confirmed to have the virus on Friday morning, three days after he arrived in the country. He flew in from Milan, Italy, into Lagos before heading to Ogun state where he first showed symptoms of the disease.

28 persons quarantined in Ogun after contact with coronavirus patient

Cement manufacturing company, Lafarge Africa Plc, has confirmed that an Italian, who is the first case of coronavirus in Nigeria, visited its plant in Ewekoro, Ogun state.

WHO says Coronavirus can spread through telephone, tables, desks as more info emerge on Lagos patient

The World Health Organization (WHO) has called for the promotion of regular and thorough hand-washing hygiene saying coronavirus (COVID-19) can be contacted when someone infected coughs or exhales.

The global health body said that people can contract the virus if droplets of infected fluid fell on nearby surfaces and objects such as desks, tables or telephones.

Iyanya granted N20m bail in ‘car theft’ case

Nigerian singer, Iyanya Mbuk has been granted bail over the car theft allegation brought before a court against him.
